Biography: Helen is a programmer who has excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. She would like a position as programmer. Ms Shen has been involved in several software development projects. She has strong programming skills in several languages, such as Java and ColdFusion. She is a fast learner and keen to learn new technology and programming languages. Ms Shen holds a B.Sc. in computer and information science and will complete Internet Professional Certificate in June 2004.

After attending our program: Accepted an internship at a junior software development company located in Yale Town. Currently, she loves her internship and this company is intending to hire her after the internship component ends in August.

Name: Jimmy Huang

Internship Requested: Software Developer

Biography:
Mr. Huang graduated from SFU in 2003 as a Computing Science major focusing on Software & Web Application Development. He has worked in Environment Canada to develop an e-mail warning system and involved in designing several of websites. Mr. Huang has great communication and interpersonal skills. He has been a tutor for about two years teaching students effective techniques of problems solving. He is also a member of a Lions Club, involved in various social events over the years. Now, he is ready to put together all his skills he has learned for a challenging Software & Web Development position with a company involved in database and web-based application development.

After attending our program: Accepted an internship at a junior software development company located in Harbour Centre, offices overlook Burrard Inlet! Currently, Jimmy just started his internship and is excited about the opportunity it presents. Potential for continued employment after the program, very good!

Internship Requested: Junior Environmental Engineer

Education: B Sc. Environmental Engineering UBC

Biography:
Mr. Chien, B.A.Sc. in Bio-Resource Engineering, has recently graduated from the University of British Columbia. He is looking for a junior position of Environmental Engineer. Mr. Chien studied extensively in contaminated site remediation, wastewater treatment, and effluent analysis. In a three-month summer job, Mr. Chien has single-handedly completed an environmental project assessing the heat balance of two commercial greenhouses, among other research projects on alternative energy and composting. Mr. Chien is also a demonstrated team player with over 1 year work experience in manufacturing setting.

After attending our program: Accepted an internship at an Environmental Consulting company located next to BCIT. Ray is enjoying his internship and would love to continue to work for this company after his internship.

Name: Ryan

Education: B.Sc. University of Alberta Chemical Engineering

Biography: Mr. Ryan M. Savitsky is a recent graduate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and is registered as an EIT with APEGGA. He is seeking a challenging and rewarding entry-level engineering position with a diverse innovative company. Mr. Savitsky has exceptional analytical, problem solving and communication skills. He is a loyal hardworking individual who is eager to learn more. His interests lie in the environmental, process, and biochemical engineering fields.

After attending our program: After learning how to contact employees directly, Ryan contacted a growing Environmental Consulting company and was hired as a full time employee. No internship, Ryan went directly into a full time permanent postion as a Junior Engineer. His company is a leading Environmental Engineering Company in British Columbia and Ryan is excited in this new postion.

Biography:
David Mc Adam has more than 2 years experience in business development, and he would like to obtain a business development role with a leading company. David created two successful businesses while attending university; he has delivered business presentations to over 1000 people, and for the past 3 years has lived in four countries while maintaining a successful record of securities trading. David has excellent strategic planning, project management, and communication skills. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in marketing from the University of British Columbia.

After attending our program: Accepted an internship in one of Western Canada's largest soft drink manufacturing and marketing firm. Dave's challenges including to help this company grow and develop its product line. After the internship, Dave's prospects of obtaining a full time position are excellent.

Name: Phuong

Biography:
Ms. Phuong Tran would like to become an external auditor specializing in Taxation. Phuong holds a UBC Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting. She is well acquainted with taxation law and used knowledge to assist hundreds of clients in filing personal, small business, rental income tax and related schedules with Pro-File software. Phuong also has strong customer service background in retail.

After attending our program: Accepted an internship at an Environmental Engineering company working in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll. Phuong loves her new company and is expecting to continue on after the internship.
